Rust resistant 25mm blade

Every effort has been made to ensure your tape measure lasts for a very long time and that starts with the 25mm wide high carbon steel blade we have used in its construction.

Step1
Each blade is produced in a 'state of the art' computer assisted facility and is quality assured to the highest standards. The first process is to slightly round the edges of the blade to ensure there is no risk of cutting the hands whilst using the tape measure. Next the blade is coated with a specially formulated rust protection polymer that completely encases both sides of the blade thus reducing the risk of rusting and chipping.

Step 2
Next is to paint the tape with a special high temperature powder coating technique that essentially 'bakes' the paint to the steel reducing the risk of chipping or cracking. This is the stage where the computer programme adds the metric and imperial calibrations to Cass I accuracy.

Step3
The final top coat is a specially formulated smooth glide application that as the name suggests ensures a smooth operation when opening or retracting the tape.

Class I Accuracy

Tapemate is manufactured by one of the world's leading tape measure manufacturers and comes with accredited Class I accuracy. Professional trades people require this level of accuracy for their work and as the name suggests it is superior to Class II accuracy. This means accurate to 1mm over a ten metre length. Class II Accuracy

Most tape measure manufacturers produce 'class II' tape measures as this requires less sophisticated and expensive production methods. A class II tape measure should be accurate to 2.3mm over a ten metre length. Class II tapes are the most widely available tape measure on the market and you would be surprised to find that many of the established brands are only have Class II accreditation.

Class III Accuracy

The 'Class III' tape measure offers the least degree of accuracy and as such are not generally used by professionals or trades people particularly over larger distances or where accuracy is critical, however, they do serve a purpose for general 'D.I.Y' and short distance measurement. The accuracy provided by the class III or class 3 tape measure is 4.6mm over a ten metre length.

The greater the stand-out, the longer the distances you can conveniently measure on your own. But even for shorter measurements, a longer reach tape is easier to use. Because the blade is stiffer, you can handle it faster and with less care than you would a flimsy tape. Most professional tape measures inform customers of their stand out and tapemate is no different you can expect circa 2.4 metres of stand out from tapemates 25mm carbon steel blade. This is conveniently the length of most sheet materials and we believe is optimum as the longer the stand out the heavier, wider and more cumbersome the tape measure is.

Double Sided Printing with reversible hook

Tapemate is conveniently printed on both sides of the 25mm blade in Imperial and Metric calibrations with a reversible hook which means in awkward situations you can still easily make accurate measurements.

Auto lock Function
Tapemate has its own ergonomically designed lock release button making it easy to retract the tape when necessary note some tapes rely on putting your finger under the mechanism to 'slow it down' this can result in injuries once the edge of the tape has become corroded and chipped.
